Study Aims
This programme aims to develop your knowledge and understanding in key areas of people management, as well as an understanding of HR in a business context. You will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of a professional people practitioner at a strategic level.
This professional qualification in Strategic People Management is a based on the CIPD Profession Map. The Map was launched in 2018 having been developed in collaboration with a wide range of experts working at the heart of the profession. It sets the international benchmark for the people profession and provides a strong foundation to give you the confidence and capabilities to guide decision-making, actions and behaviours.

The core units are directly aligned to the core knowledge and core behaviours of the Profession Map. Topics typically studied include the following - some modules are subject to change by the curriculum team:
Teaching and Assessment
Each session includes taught theory and seminar activities. The sessions are inclusive and interactive and will encourage you to share ideas and experiences.
You will develop your knowledge and allow you to put into practice the skills of a HR practitioner.
You will engage in the following to build your knowledge to complete summative assessments for each unit:
Sessions will be delivered via blended learning, including face to face sessions onsite and live remote sessions via Teams.
Industry Links
We have links with the CIPD North East Branch - you will be encouraged to attend at least one of their events per academic year. These are based in the region and provide excellent support and advice, usually free of change.
We also have strong industry links with ACAS, CIPD and professional organisations who may come in and deliver guest speaker slots throughout the programme.
