Level 6 Degree In Project Management With L3 Harris

Get hands on experience working within the Project Management department, supporting the management and delivery of multiple challenging high-technology projects across the project lifecycle to Time, Cost and Quality KPIs, all whilst obtaining your degree.

From 11 UK sites, our team of nearly 1,000 people delivers unique capabilities across space, air, land, sea and cyber for military, security and commercial customers across the UK and worldwide.

L3Harris in Bristol/Portchester/Burgess Hill/Barrow designs and delivers SIL-2 Standard integrated warship control and automation systems that are in service on Albion Class Landing Platform Docks and Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers.  L3 also delivers multiple shore-based simulation and training services and in-service support field engineering services direct to UK MOD.  More systems are being developed and delivered for Type 26 and Type 31 Frigates as well as export variants.

This role is multi-faceted, requiring engineering judgement and strong leadership with the ability to co-ordinate, plan, control and deliver a project with challenging constraints.


Key responsibilities 

  • Work within a business / programme environment, supporting the project (contract) delivery and/or bid activity
  • Liaising between customers and suppliers across multiple countries and time-zones
  • Support team organisation and communications plans
  • Creation and maintenance of project schedules 
  • Use appropriate planning techniques to help identify project resource requirements and manage availability with functional managers
  • Work with Supply Chain and Commercial teams to ensure contract baselines, plans and schedules are maintained in line with agreed contract changes
  • Support the development & maintenance monitoring & control of project deliverables
  • Efficiently deliver clearly focused customer & company project financial and schedule performance reporting
  • Support and maintain the production of project risk & opportunity registers(s), arranging regular reviews and communicating in monthly reporting cycle
  • Support development of project management capability to support business & company growth (including managing own personal development)


Essential - 

  • Days of the week including start time and finish: Monday – Friday
  • CORE hours are: 
  • Morning: 10:00-1200 
  • Afternoon: 1400-15.30
  • Hours per week: 40hrs
  • Breaks and lunchtime: 30mins

We do require you to be on-site 60% of the time across the month (up to 3 days per week on average)

£22500 per annum

Essential 

5 GCSE’s, Maths and English, 5+ (C+)


Subject to successful completion of the Level 6 Apprenticeship and there being a business need for L3Harris to employ the individual, but this is not a guarantee.


Due to the nature of our work many our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment must meet the requirement of right to work in the UK and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to government security checks.
