Working as an Apprentice within the Consumer Science team will give you the chance to work with some of our biggest brands including Cadbury, Oreo, Milka and Toblerone as well as new product launches. The team work as a partner in research projects, and the development/improvement of new and existing products, using a wide range of sensory and consumer science methodologies. As an Apprentice you will be preparing confectionary samples for evaluation, conducting training for our sensory panels, collecting, analysing, and reporting data to support our global research programmes. In addition, you will conduct consumer research and use this data to extract valuable insights to help create superior products and packaging,

During your time you will:

  • Build capability in sensory and consumer analysis techniques

  • Interpret results, prepare presentations, and provide clear actionable recommendations to the business.

  • Work closely with colleagues in the R and D community, as well as Marketing and Insights

  • Build technical knowledge of our categories

  • Build connections with CS colleagues cross-category

Apprenticeship:

The Consumer Science Apprentice role is a 4–5 year training position, which will require balancing work with learning. Your day-to-day work and training will be supported by studying towards a BSc (Hons) Food Science and Technology with Nottingham Trent University, more information can be found here. This will be delivered as a mixture of block release and distance learning.

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office

Education / Certifications:

You’ll need a good academic background to qualify for our apprentice program, including;

  • A-levels – BBC including a Science subject*; or

  • BTEC Extended Diploma – DMM, including relevant Science modules; or

  • 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications, including an A-level equivalent in a Science subject; and

  • GCSEs - English and Maths grade C / 4.
