Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship Property Maintenance Operative

You will develop the skills to allow you to work on private and public projects on properties to provide building maintenance, updates and refurbishments.

Study Aims

The primary role of a Property Maintenance Operative is to optimise property condition and quality and to ensure a building is kept in a safe working condition. Property Maintenance Operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and team.

You will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. You will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. You will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.

Teaching and Assessment

You will learn on the job in a work environment, or in the classroom with realistic situations.

You will be assessed in several ways – including knowledge questions, synoptic practical assessment, a portfolio of evidence and observation.

End Point Assessment

The final assessment for the qualification is an End Point Assessment (EPA) which must be passed to achieve the full qualification.

This willl include:

Multiple Choice Test.
This is made of 50 questions, multiple choice, centrally set and marked. The knowledge areas will be selected from an assessment bank that covers the full knowledge range. This examination will have a maximum time of 90 minutes.

Practical assessment You will be given a range of practical maintenance tasks to complete in a 5-hour test relating to work you would be required to carry out in your role

Professional discussion Following the practical test you will be required to carry out a professional discussion to cover aspects of property maintenance not covered in the synoptic test. This will be a chance to demonstrate your knowledge of the property maintenance.

Entry Criteria

A grade 3 in GCSE maths and English, or Level 1 Functional Skills.

You will work towards Level 2 Functional Skills maths and English whilst on programme.
