Study Aims
The aim of this apprenticeship is to provide you with the first steps to pursue a career in painting and decorating. You will develop the underpinning knowledge, skills and behaviours needed, and they will be enhanced during the training delivered in the place of work.
Modules Studied
Teaching and Assessment
You will be assessed throughout the duration of the programme both at college and at your place of work. You will complete assessments designed to support your learning and give additional guidance and support to your progress. You will be given targets to complete the programme successfully.The final assessment for the qualification is an End Point Assessment (EPA) which must be passed to achieve the full qualification. This is a three-part assessment. There is a multiple-choice online test covering the theory aspect of the qualification, a 3-day practical test which is carried out under full examination conditions and a professional discussion. All parts of the EPA must be passed to achieve the Standard qualification.You, your employer and your tutor must all agree when the EPA should take place within the time constraints of the qualification length.
End Point Assessment
The final assessment for the qualification is an End Point Assessment (EPA) which must be passed to achieve the full qualification.

Close links with local Painting and Decorating businesses enable the College to continually update current industrial practices so that you are provided with the most enhanced training available.Tutors attend industrial updates and spend time back in industry ensuring that current manufacturing practices can be delivered to the apprentices.Guest speakers are invited to talk about specific topics to benefit both you and your tutor. Guest speakers will provide an alternative perspective on topics, this will benefit you as you will engage in independent thinking and immersive discussions.
Placement
The qualification is split into two parts.80% on the job training covers the requirement of the employer to provide practical training in all aspects of the nature of the business while you are at your place of work.20% off the job training covers the obligation of the college to deliver theory and practical training covering the requirements of the Wood machining standard.

You will be have an interview with the Apprenticeship team . As part of your interview you will carry out a number of tasks which will help us assess your suitability for the course. Please bring evidence of relevant qualifications and proof of ID, e.g. passport or driving license or birth certificate.
