Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship Hairdressing

Overview

This intermediate course will prepare you for further study or a career in the hairdressing industry. 

It combines study with practical learning on-the-job. You will attend college on a day-release basis while employed and working as an apprentice/junior hairdresser. 

You will will gain evidence from your place of work, which will contribute towards the achievement of your apprenticeship, and will develop your hairdressing skills in colouring, cutting and styling women's hair.

Aims

This course aims to provide you with the practical and theoretical knowledge required to style and cut hair. You will earn while you learn and gain vital hands on experience working in a salon. 

You may need to organise clients (16+ years) for your assessments, and you will need to purchase the correct kit and uniform.

  • Style and Finish
  • Styling Hair
  • Cutting hair using basic techniques
  • Colouring and lightening hair
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Develop and maintain effectiveness
  • Plait and twist.

Delivery

Monday: 9am-3.30pm

Entry Criteria

You must be employed and have support from your employer to enrol onto an apprenticeship programme as you will be required to attend college one day per week. 

Ideally, you will hold a minimum of grade 4/C in maths and English. You will be required to re-sit Level 1 Functional Skills if you do not hold the minimum required grade in maths or English. 

What next?

You could progress to Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Hairdressing.
