The construction sector is ever advancing in search of greater efficiency and increased productivity.
This HNC in Modern Methods of Construction prepares construction professionals for the management of new and innovative forms of procurement, design and construction. It can lead to Chartership status across a range of professional bodies.
You will attend the University Centre one day per week over two years and will study key areas such as Principles of Off-site Construction, The Construction Environment and Principles of Alternative Energy.
You will also be expected to conduct additional directed and independent study during your own time away from college to complete the programme.
You can also complete this as a part of a Higher Apprenticeship.

The purpose of the HNC in Modern Methods of Construction is to develop your skills as a professional.
You will be able to reflect on your performance to make improvements, and you will develop the skills needed to meet the demands of employers in the construction sector, and adapt to an ever-changing world.

You will attend college on a day-release basis. You will also be expected to conduct additional independent study to complete the programme. This is essential to ensure success on your course.

Placement
There are no formal work placement requirements, however, gaining experience in a real working environment will be encouraged.
Entry Criteria
If you hold a Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, you may be eligible for some accreditation for prior learning which can be discussed on an individual basis.
You may be accepted on the course as a mature students if you have a suitable background or sector experience.
There may be a requirement to complete an Aptitude assessment (this will be advised at interview).
International students must have competent English-speaking skills and hold an IELTS score of 6.0. This can be discussed during the interview stage if there are any queries.
What are the next steps?
You will attend an interview with the course tutor. Please allow up to an hour for your interview as you may be required to carry out an assessment. Please bring with you any former qualifications (including Maths and English), National Insurance number and proof of ID.
