Mechanical, Electrical & Trim
Ashley Stokes found out about the apprenticeship programme during his work experience at the Body Repair Centre. Due to his good feedback during the work experience, The Body Repair Centre decided to take Ashley on as a Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (MET) apprentice when he finished school.
One aspect of the apprenticeship that Ashley loved was the variety of different things he learned. “The way I looked at a car before is different to how I look at a car now”, Ashley has noted the different things he has learned on his apprenticeship, and what he has been shown in detail during the programme. He was shown how different cars were taken apart and stripped down, how individual parts work and the different ways of fixing those parts.
As an apprentice with us, you get supported throughout the entire programme. Ashley said that “If you ever get stuck with anything, they will give you a hand.” Ashley also stressed the importance of asking questions during the apprenticeship.
Ashley Stokes is a massive advocate for the programme. “I would definitely recommend the Apprenticeship programme to other people. You get to earn money while you are learning… you’ve got to think long term there will be a job set for you at the end of it.”
