Service Technician
Harry joined the apprenticeship programme with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles because he has a passion for cars and enjoyment in fixing things. He also found it appealing that he could learn and earn money, and gain hands on experience.
At school, Harry found that subjects such as his engineering diploma, level 2 pre vocational light vehicle and functional skills such as English, Maths and Science helped him on his journey towards an apprenticeship.
Harry thinks highly of the programme and has really pleased with the high level of responsibility given to him, but also the great support he received from his employers.
“The training given to me has been a great foundation to start my career. I’ve gained both skills in the motor industry and personal skills like communication. Training is always ongoing and everyone wants to help you to achieve your goals”.
Harry has excelled throughout his learning journey and training. He has achieved a number of milestones in a short space of time. These include completion of his Qualified Technician Assessment only five months after his Service Technician Assessment and being nominated for the IMI Skill Auto competition and then qualifying in the top 30 apprentice service technicians in the UK.
The apprenticeship has given him the motivation to push himself in the automotive industry. He aspires to be the youngest ever Master Technician.
“I would recommend the apprenticeship programme to anyone looking to start a career in the motor industry”.
