College’s Accounting Academy Leads To Great Jobs With Top Companies – Apply Now!

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London is open now for admissions onto its highly successful Accounting Academy. This year the Academy begins a new partnership with Leyton Orient Football Club (LOFC), and also works in partnership with the Leadership Through Sport (LTS) charity. LTS helps learners access excellent work experience opportunities and career development as well as leadership activities across the sports and community business sector. Accounting Academy members mentor and coach local primary school children to develop their leadership skills and in turn Academy members receive mentoring and coaching from top business leaders.

To gain a place within the Accounting Academy, learners need to enrol onto the Accounting Apprenticeship Level 3 and take part in an interview for selection onto the Academy.

Learners who do not already have the qualifications to go straight onto the Level 3 can apply for the two-month fast track Accounting Pre-Apprenticeship at Level 2.

Akash Rupraelia, Level 3 Accounting Apprenticeship
Akash was employed by BayernLB, an international bank, as a Financial Analyst between December 2013 and January 2014 as part of the Accounting Academy. He says: “ I was studying A Levels before I joined the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London. The College not only secured me a career with one of the big blue chip firms but also a professional qualification with great support from the tutors.”

Atera Begum, Level 3 Accounting Apprenticeship
Atera was employed by ICAP, a leading financial company, as an Accounting and Financial Analyst between December 2013 and January 2014 as part of the Accounting Academy. She says: “I have enjoyed all the elements of the course and it has given me an opportunity to secure myself with a permanent job at ICAP and progress in accounting field.”

David Pinchin explained more about the Programme; the long term benefits to the learners – and how to ensure they achieve career success: "Accounting is an extremely valuable skill. The ability to interpret numbers in accordance with accounting standards is essential to any business person. Remember however you are not on this course to become accountants but leaders either in business, sports or community management."

Jane O’Neill, Interim Principal and Chief Executive said: “Opening doors and offering better opportunities for our students is at the heart of what the College aims to do. We feel extremely privileged to be able to offer our students such a worthwhile programme.”

LTS is a charity set up by David Pinchin, an internationally successful businessman, who through the programme aims to help young people, who may lack career opportunities, to achieve their full potential. Under the scheme, gifted College accounting apprentices who join the College’s Accounting Academy will be placed in leading financial companies for four days a week in paid employment. The apprentices will also spend one day a week at College studying for their qualification and taking part in the LTS programme.
