College Hosts National Volunteering Week Volunteers’ Fair

Just some of the employers available to discuss volunteering opportunities over the week were ‘Living Under One Sun’ a local charity which focusses on the volunteers to help rejuvenating the green spaces in the area and ‘Markfield’, promoting the independence and inclusion of the disabled people and their families.

As part of the week, students from the College held a variety of fundraising activities. Levels 1, 2 and 3 ESOL students hosted a bake sale and raffle for the charity ‘Noah’s Arc Children’s Hospice’ and raised over £140.

ESOL student, Ana Maria from Bulgaria said “It’s good to know about all of the different things available to us not just a students but in our local area too, so that we can help the wider community. There are so many opportunities to help people.”

Anthony Robinson, Quality and Learner Experience Manager said “We understand at the College that we have commitment to supporting the local community and we do everything we can to encourage our students to get involved. It’s been a fantastic week, lots of charities have come to visit and tell us what they’re all about and we’ve had many students sign up as volunteers.”
