Join the Marketing and Events team within the Business and Innovation Directorate (BID) at STFC, where we work to promote STFC’s opportunities and activities to businesses of all sizes. 

As a Level 3 Marketing and Events Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting campaigns and events that drive innovation, business growth, start-up development, and campus activities. This hands-on role offers an outstanding opportunity to learn and develop skills in marketing, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement—all within a dynamic scientific and technological environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing events that support BID’s activities.
  • Help build marketing materials for events, newsletters, and social media that highlight BID’s activities.
  • Support the promotion of STFC’s innovation and business support initiatives across different channels, including websites and social media.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and event execution.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Provide general support to the marketing and events team, contributing to overall team goals. 
     

As part of your apprenticeship, you will undertake professional development and training through a mixture of online and workplace teaching with Estio completing the Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketer Apprenticeship.  .  

Towards the end of the apprenticeship duration there is an End Point Assessment which includes a written project report with presentation and questioning, and an interview underpinned by portfolio of evidence.

Essential

  • Achieved or predicted to achieve 2 GCSE passes at Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications) (S)
  • A basic understanding of marketing and event promotion, including the use of social media platforms (S&I).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders (I).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail (I).
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to give ideas and solutions (I). 

Desirable: 

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office; including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (SI)
  • Curiosity about and passion for science (I)
  • Curiosity about or experience with business development, start-ups, or innovation activities (I).
  • Experience working on events or marketing projects in a team setting (I). 

Important Information

1. To complete the apprenticeship, you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English. For those sitting their GSCEs in Summer 2025, we would need evidence of your predicted grades.
