About the role


Are you looking to kick-start your career as a Library Apprentice? Would you like to build experience working in a university library with a busy and supportive team? Then our apprenticeship could be for you!




This new apprenticeship role is based within Imperial’s Library Services. We support students and staff by providing print and online learning and research resources, research support and a variety of study spaces across our 7 libraries.




What you would be doing


As our apprentice, you will provide vital support to the Library Services team, taking on a variety of progressively more demanding activities as your skills and experience grow. You will also be supported to gain a formal qualification that will help you in your future career.




You will be fully trained to provide a range of services for library users including front of house customer support and administrative tasks. You will also spend 20% of your time undertaking a special programme of development aligned to the library, information and archive services assistant apprenticeship standard




What we are looking for


You will need (or expect to gain) grade 9–4 (A*-C) at GCSE in Maths and English. You should have some previous experience of providing excellent customer service and a good knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. We are looking for applicants with good communication, organisation and time management skills.

The main location will be the South Kensington campus (you will be required to work at other campuses as part of the apprenticeship).
