Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship With NatWest

 

LTSB are in its 6th year of partnership with NatWest Group and are looking for young people who are passionate about Banking & Finance to join a range of apprenticeship opportunities in permanent roles with the bank in 2024.

Elevate Programme

We are offering places on our three-week interactive programme where you will receive employability training, interaction with NatWest Group staff and Q&A sessions, gain insight into the culture at NatWest Group and other employers, interview prep work and advice from previous LTSB students on their apprenticeships.

Programme start date: Monday 1st July

Successful completion of our programme guarantees you an interview with NatWest Group for a permanent role.

Starting Salary: £23,940

LTSB will continue to support successful candidates until roles commence in October 2024, and then for the first year of your career.

On the apprenticeship you’ll study to gain a qualification while putting new skills to use in work, earning a competitive salary, and being supported professionally through the programme.

Job Description (the role you'll be doing)

·       You will develop your ability to problem solve, be an equal member in the team, suggest new ways of solving problems and contribute ideas on how to improve customer journeys. OBM are in the process of establishing our V2 hosting platform with a move to Amazon Web Services and continuous deployment.

·       Assist in developing, testing and maintaining software applications.

·       Liaise with lead engineers, architects, business analysts and other key stakeholders to understand the objectives and requirements.

·       Participate in code reviews and debugging sessions.

·       Support the design and development of high-volume, high-performance and high-availability applications using proven frameworks and technologies to improve customer/colleague experience.

·       Align to the organisation's architectural direction and principles, and make sure that the applications and services being built adhere to them.

·       Monthly catch up's on personal development.

·       Attend and sometimes demonstrate work in monthly sessions with the head of department.

·       Completing quarterly bank wide mandatory learning.

·       Write concise yet comprehensive technical documentation.

·       Advocate for the apprenticeship program and collaborate with other early career talent to foster good working culture.

Eligibility

We are looking for young people aged 16 – 24 who are passionate about building a career in Digital & Technology. You don’t need previous experience, but you do need to show evidence of a genuine interest in the role and the banking sector.

We work in areas where talent struggles to find opportunity, and so we are specifically looking for young people who were eligible for free school meals, or from areas of low educational attainment, or have faced personal disadvantage. To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:

  • 16-24 years old
  • Did not attend a fee-paying school
  • Received free school meals and/or require additional support to access careers
  • 5 GCSEs (Grade 4-9), or equivalent National 5 qualifications in Scotland (Grade A-C)
