Overview:

As an IT Infrastructure Apprentice, you will deliver and support IT infrastructure services to all relevant regional Truck & Bus Centre locations and regional offices, whilst also managing technical administration and authorisation of all local and group IT systems. You will be involved in the installation and support of all IT hardware, supporting all business activities, ensuring any downtime is kept to a minimum. You will be part of a close-knit team of 4 collaborating and shadowing them across 18 sites, gaining hands-on experience. As an apprentice, on-the-job training and mentorship will be provided to support your professional development and enhance your technical skills alongside achieving a degree-level apprenticeship qualification.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a field-based role with travel across the south and east of England. The ideal candidate would reside in commutable distance to Warwick and have a drivers licence.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to user enquiries and provide technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, both in person and remotely.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of computer hardware, software, and networking equipment under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participate in technology-related projects, contributing to the design, implementation, and testing of new systems and solutions. (Projects include: Windows 11 migration and managing upgrade of WIFI networks across 18 Truck centres).
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to provide recommendations for improving IT infrastructure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage technical administration and authorisation for new starters and leavers in a timely manner for all local and group IT systems.

Desirable skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent Microsoft 365 knowledge (advanced Excel skills is advantageous). You need to have effective communication, numerical, and project management skills.
  • A driver’s license is required. 
  • Strong interest in information technology, computer systems, and networking.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware components, operating systems, and common software applications.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and wireless technologies.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of IT environments and networked services.

Entry requirements:

A Level 3 qualification in a relevant area in any grade. Acceptable qualifications include:

  • Two A levels in one or more similar subject.*
  • Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject.
  • International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in a similar subject.
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in a similar subject.
  • A work experience route (2-3 years) in a similar subject-related role.

*'Similar subject' relates to areas directly relevant to or commensurate with 'Digital and Technology Solutions'. Typically this would be areas such as but not limited to Level 3 digital apprenticeships, A-Level/BTEC Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Software Engineering, etc.

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
