IT Helpdesk Apprentice

Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line IT support by logging client requests, resolving hardware/software issues, and escalating when necessary.
  • Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, networks, and user accounts.
  • Monitor and manage servers, networks, and cloud environments (including Microsoft 365) for performance and security.
  • Maintain clear, non-technical communication with clients and build strong working relationships.
  • Perform tasks as directed by the Line Manager, adapting to evolving responsibilities over time.

Desirable skills:

  • A basic working knowledge of the latest Windows operating systems (highly essential).
  • A basic working knowledge of the latest MS Office applications (essential).
  • A basic working knowledge of the latest MAC operating systems (desirable).
  • A keen interest in IT and technology.
  • A positive, friendly, profession approach.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Friendly, positive communication style with a customer-focused approach.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:

37.5 hours per week, shifts to cover 8:30am – 6:00pm. You may be asked your availability to work the occasional weekend to support customer migrations; this will be supervised and time given back in lieu.
