We are seeking to appoint an IT System Administrator with experience and skills in IT and customer service. This post provides the opportunity to complete a higher-level apprenticeship in Digital and Technology Solutions Professional ( Degree ). The right candidate will be a highly valued member of our Central Team within Team Beckfoot Trust.
As our IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all IT systems across the schools within our trust.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Infrastructure & Support: Maintain and monitor IT systems across schools, providing second-line support and escalating issues as needed.
- Incident Management: Investigate and resolve technical issues, implement security protocols, and ensure service reliability.
- System Administration: Manage IT assets, user accounts, cloud and on-premises systems, and software/hardware installations.
- Training & Collaboration: Support staff and students with IT training, troubleshooting, and best practices while working with external vendors.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure GDPR, cybersecurity, and data protection compliance, maintaining accurate records and risk assessments.
- Professional Growth: Stay updated with industry trends, participate in training, and continuously improve IT operations.
You will work collaboratively with our Trust IT Team to support multiple schools . As we continue to standardise our technology and processes, you will maintain comprehensive documentation and managing the IT service portfolio to ensure efficiency and standardisation across our trust.
Key Person Specification(s):
- Qualifications: Minimum Level 4 IT qualification with GCSEs in Maths and English; additional IT-related certifications (e.g., ITIL, Microsoft) are desirable.
- Experience: At least three years of IT experience, including infrastructure management and application support; experience in educational IT is a plus.
- Skills & Knowledge: Strong problem-solving abilities, knowledge of IT systems in educational settings, and effective communication skills.
- Values & Character: Commitment to safeguarding, diversity, and ethical leadership, with emotional intelligence and a passion for education.
- Personal Circumstances: Legally able to work in the UK, flexible for meetings outside regular hours, and ideally has a driving license with access to a car.
- This might well suit someone who already holds a ICT L3 Apprenticeship and is seeking career advancement

Entry Requirements:
A Level 3 qualification in a relevant area in any grade. Acceptable qualifications include:
- Two A levels in one or more similar subject.*
- Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject.
- International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in a similar subject.
- BTEC Extended Diploma in a similar subject.
- A work experience route (2-3 years) in a similar subject-related role.
*'Similar subject' relates to areas directly relevant to or commensurate with 'Digital and Technology Solutions'. Typically this would be areas such as but not limited to Level 3 digital apprenticeships, A-Level/BTEC Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Software Engineering, etc.
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
