Graduate Business Apprentice - Project Planner

The Opportunity

There is a member of our Apprentice team at each site, helping you progress, ensuring your study time is protected, enabling access to digital learning as well as opportunities to get involved with the local community and STEM projects, enhance many aspects of each programme.

During Leonardo’s four year Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship scheme in Edinburgh you will study at the University of Strathclyde for completion of a Business Management BA (Hons) degree through a mixture of work based learning, distance learning and day release at University.

We need people who understand the importance of effective project planning and controls and are ready to commit to working in the business, whilst also committing to a 4 year degree programme.  It is an opportunity to contribute and experience project planning in each of the business Sectors. At the end of the programme, you will work as a highly skilled member of our Project Planning and Controls community.

During Years 1 and 2 of the degree you will study core degree modules. In addition you will work closely with work-based mentors to enable you to apply your academic knowledge within the work context. You will learn how to schedule projects and  track project performance.  You will develop knowledge of project planning techniques and procedures and  gain practical experience  of SAP and P6 planning/project management systems. 

Years 3 and 4 are designed to develop higher level cognitive skills and enable the continued integration of knowledge, professional competencies and transferable skills.  You will provide input to Integrated Project Teams  meetings to answer questions concerning project planning  and  be able to co-ordinate activities with other related areas of the business  to support the planning process.  You will further enhance and develop your operational skillset to enable you to take ownership of your own project planning portfolio.

The final positions will be within the Planning Function in Edinburgh.

The starting salary for this role is £20,500

Role requirements:

4 Higher Grades (or equivalent): BBBB
Mandatory: Mathematics & English
Preferred: a business related subject
AND
Standard Grades (1-3) / National 5: (A-C) in English (or equivalent qualifications to Highers / Standard Grades). SAAS funding from English apprentices moving to Scotland must have residancy in Scotland before August 1st
