About the role

 

 

 

Our technicians are part of the Operations & Maintenance Team for NGV Interconnectors, supporting the physical operation of Interconnectors around the UK. The role is instrumental in the effective delivery and reporting of maintenance on our critical assets, as well as working closely with suppliers and third parties to ensure planned and unplanned works are delivered safely and efficiently.  

 

 

Our Interconnector sites manage high and low voltage electricity, as well as pressure systems and harmful substances. Health and safety is key to our operations, you will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), work outside, work at height and occasionally work in confined spaces. 

Apprenticeship Framework

 

 

 

Year 1: Term-time at College (Grantham), outside of term-time onsite training at an Interconnector site or with one of our external training providers. 

 

 

Year 2 and 3: One week per month at College (Grantham), remainder onsite training at an Interconnector site or with one of our external training providers. 

 

 

The Apprenticeship requires extensive travel in the UK and overnight accommodation.  Accommodation and travel are managed and booked by NGV and there is an expenses policy in place to cover meals and sundry costs. 

 

 

We have Interconnector sites in the following locations, and you will be based at one of these locations for your apprenticeship: 

 

Gosport, Hampshire 

 

Ashford, Kent 

 

Isle of Grain, Kent 

 

Richborough, Kent 

 

Bicker Fen, Lincolnshire 

 

Blyth, Northumberland

What you'll need

 

5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above/4-9 GCSE including English Language and Mathematics / Science.  

 

 

Valid full UK car driving license or be willing to learn to drive and agree to secure a valid full UK car driving license within 12 months of joining the program.
