About the role

 

 

This role is based within our Strategic Infrastructure Team. Our new Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business unit has been set up to deliver 17 new major projects in the UK, as well as other strategic projects to help us deliver on our net zero ambitions and help the UK Government meet its target of 50GW of renewable energy by 2030.

 

 

It’s a collaborative effort, and our team are rapidly growing. We need experts in construction, project management, commercial, analytical, account management, communications, HVDC engineering and town planning and we’re looking at creating our own experts in these fields through our apprenticeship programme.

 

 

As a Higher Apprentice in our Strategic Infrastructure team, you’ll gain experience in all aspects of health and safety management, quality management, collaborating with contractors, and programme management including:   

 

 

  • Supporting Project Managers and their teams during project delivery.

 

  • Understanding the project milestones. 

 

  • Support with project reporting and site coordination with stakeholders. 

 

  • Help with the management of the contractor’s performance to meet the key project deliverables.  

 

  • Ensure Quality and Safety procedures are being adhered to throughout the course of the projects.  

 

  • Work with contractors and third parties to develop a safety culture in line with National Grid standards. 

 

  • Support with the collection and management of project documentation.

 

  • Attend project meetings and support with weekly reports.

 

  • The opportunity to be involved in project planning and programme management of live projects.

 

  • Work with Operational teams onsite to ensure and understand safety from the systems.  

 

 

Location

 

This vacancy is based in Warwick or Central Birmingham. All our vacancies offer flexible, hybrid working.  

 

 

About you

 

 

  • You will need to have 5 GCSEs including English Language AND in Math at Grade C or above (or equivalent)

 

  • 2 A levels: Grades A* - C or equivalent (Level 3/HND etc grade Merit or higher)
