Transport & Digital Systems Apprentice

Why John G Russell?
John G Russell have a vacancy within Coatbridge Transport Co Ltd for a Traffic & Digital Support Apprentice to join their team to assist with the Transport and Planning Team. The apprentice will work towards an SCQF Level 6 Digital Applications Support Programme.

What’s involved?

  • Working in the Transport Team as first response to all queries to customers and colleagues internal and external to provide support and guidance before passing on to the relevant team.
  • Becoming a superuser in the Tops Transport Management System to plan routes, check rates and invoice customers.
  • Utilising the VBS System to help to book drivers routes for drop off/collection of boxed goods and manage driver and vehicle details.
  • Becoming an expert in the CYMAN Terminal management system for international exports.
  • Working towards weekly and monthly deadlines for processing bookings, updating Sharepoint with details. 
  • Using Word and Excel to manage documents and pickup/drop off information on each delivery.

What do they need from you?

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Great organisation skills and willing to learn.

Salary: £15,704 per annum.

Working week: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Throughout your apprenticeship you are supported by your skills coach and your account manager. They work with your line manager to ensure you settle in, help you develop all the skills you need to pass your assessments, and can provide one to one support. At the end, as well as the valuable experience you have gained, you get a nationally recognised qualification.

Future prospects:
You will gain a full-time role upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
