My role and what I do

As the Women’s Leagues and Competitions Apprentice I provide administrative support to the Women’s Premier League Reserve Section Competition, which includes checking and maintaining team sheets, locking results and statistics, arranging and rearranging fixtures, managing queries and relationships with the WPL clubs. In addition, I also support the Women’s Super League, focusing on monitoring and evaluating systems and delivering the Conti Cup.

Highlight of my role so far

My apprenticeship has had many highlights so far! I have travelled up and down the country visiting stadiums such as the Hive to determine the venues for the WPL Reserve Cup Final and the WPL Cup and Plate Final. It was amazing to see the facilities that are available to our players. On one of my many visits to St. Georges Park I was lucky enough to watch the England Women’s Senior team train as they prepared for their visit to France earlier this year – I even got to meet Steph Houghton and Jill Scott! In March I am going to be a Team Liaison Officer for the Ukraine U21’s National Team, which I am really looking forward to! All round it has been an amazing experience to work closely with top flight Women’s Football Clubs, being the go to contact for the WPL Reserves Division and also having the opportunity to attend meetings with board members and General Secretaries for Women’s Super League Clubs. My presence in these meetings has extended my knowledge of the Women’s Game and allowed me to see how much work goes on behind the scenes in order to obtain the best possible outcome for all involved in the changes to Women’s Football in the 18/19 season.

What attracted me to the FA?

The FA appealed to me because of my love for football. I am passionate about not only being a player of women’s football but also developing the game and promoting women’s football with the aim to double female participation.
