Real Stories - Lauren, 18

Lauren, 18, wasn’t sure what to do after leaving school. “I left when I was 16 and found it very difficult to get a job. I felt unwanted and it really knocked my confidence. My family encouraged me to consider an apprenticeship, and I’m so glad they did.”

Lauren started a Business Administration apprenticeship helping tutors with their admin tasks, keeping the IT systems up-to-date and managing expenses. “It was nerve-wracking at first but everyone here has been so helpful and I want to do my best for them and for me.”

“I’ve developed as a person – from being shy, I am now talking to clients and members of staff. I feel I am being treated as an equal and valued for what I do.”

At the end of her apprenticeship, Lauren will have gained an NVQ Level 2, and hopes to progress to a Level 3 soon afterwards. Kate Harrison, Apprenticeship Development Manager at Ingeus says, “Lauren has done everything we have asked of her and a lot more besides – she’s a fantastic apprentice and valued member of staff.”
