Whilst Naomi knew she wanted to pursue a career in engineering, she wasn’t sure which specialism she’d like to follow. This made it difficult to choose a university course and the appropriate A Levels. When she discovered she could combine academic and vocational studies with an apprenticeship at Jaguar Land Rover, the decision became easy. She now would have the perfect balance between the two, whilst gaining a unique insight into the automotive industry.
Naomi is currently in the third year of her apprenticeship as an electrical maintenance technician in the Facilities and Site Services department at the company’s Advanced Engineering Centre in Warwickshire. So far, she has completed her NVQ2 in engineering and is now beginning her NVQ3 and foundation degree at Warwickshire College, fully sponsored by the business.
Speaking about her apprenticeship, Naomi says: “The last three years at Jaguar Land Rover have been amazing. They’ve really opened my eyes to the endless possibilities and opportunities that are available within the automotive industry, and Jaguar Land Rover is at the very heart of it.”
“To be able to earn while learning from some of the most skilled and experienced engineers in the country has been incredible, and even though it was initially hard to adjust from a school environment to a working environment, I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone – in fact I have friends applying this year.
