Chloe Parrott - Hopkins Solicitors

Eighteen-year-old Chloe Parrott is employed as an apprentice office assistant at Hopkins solicitors. After attending an assessment day with Vision Apprentices, Chloe was called for interview and was successful in getting the role at the Mansfield-based firm in August 2017.

Chloe said: “Learning on the job feels the most effective way of working, because you can practically apply what you are learning and you get a great opportunity to gain real experience of working life."

“My role is varied depending on which office I am based at, as I work between the two offices that Hopkins has in Mansfield and this gives me varied experience and no day is ever the same!'

“Typically I do tasks such as photocopying bundles, printing, scanning, covering reception, sorting out the post and filing.”

Chloe is assessed on her apprenticeship qualification in the workplace, which sees a tutor observing all her new skills and passing her new assignments to complete. “I’m learning so many things such as communication in the business environment and learning about

employee rights and responsibilities.

“If I ever feel unsure of what I’m doing I can always contact my tutor via email. I also have the flexibility to send my tutor any work to get feedback on and ensure that I have done it correctly.”

Chloe is due to complete her apprenticeship in August 2018 and she has the opportunity to study a degree in management at the University of Leicester.

She said: “I’m still considering staying on at Hopkins and trying to progress internally if I get the opportunity. Apprentices here in the past have gone on to become legal secretaries and even fee earning members of staff. Hopkins prides itself on being an investor in people and it really is a friendly and welcoming environment to work in.”
