I was always concerned that going to university would result in large debts and an unrelated job at the end of three years. That’s why I applied for an apprenticeship with GCHQ. There’s a good mix of training and on-the-job work, so you can quickly put the skills learnt into practice. This helped develop my technical skills further, much more than I believe a standard degree course at university could.
Then you have the added benefits of working for GCHQ, where the work you do - from day one - helps to protect the country. This is probably the UK’s most unique apprenticeship.
