About me :
Hi I’m Cameron, a transport planner apprentice at the Dunelm site. I am currently studying a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration. I studied Sport science at college before working full time for 8 years at McDonalds, where I progressed to become an Assistant store manager.
Why an apprenticeship ?
I chose to make a change in my career and believed becoming an apprentice was the next step for me. This is because I wanted to work full time, but also gain a qualification at the same time, so this is perfect for me.
Why did DHL Apprenticeships appeal to you?
There were a few reasons why DHL appealed to me, Firstly the whole interview process was very well thought out and I feel DHL put a real effort into ensuring they were hiring the correct people for the job. Secondly, it is the world’s largest logistics company, why would you not want to work for a global leading company like DHL?. Lastly, there hopefully will be lots of chances for me to progress, so completing the apprenticeship will help me achieve my goals within the business.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
Having been in the business for just over 2 weeks, the biggest highlight has been the people I have come across. Everyone from the higher management to the warehouse workers, everyone has made me feel so welcomed and at ease. Making the settling in period a lot easier for myself. It really has all been a highlight.
What has been your highlight so far?
As I am completely new to the business I have no real idea about the supply chain and how it works. My line manager set up a 4 week plan for me to get a real understanding about the different elements of the business. So I have been able to get a real insight of all aspects of the supply chain.
What advice would you give to people thinking of doing an apprenticeship?
My advice would be just to go for it, you won’t be let down. I wasn’t sure what to do before I started, but I haven’t looked back. It’s a massive & exciting company who work with lots of top businesses and you get to study whilst working which is a bonus too!
