Sky Offers Media Apprenticeships Again This Year
4 years ago

Thanks to positive feedback from last year's apprenticeship participants, Sky - one of the country's largest and well known technology, media and entertainment employers - is once more offering a total of 98 apprenticeship places across the UK.

Previously, more than three hundred apprentices have started their career in the fields of engineering, technology and customer service.

This year's cohort will be given training in areas like broadcast operations, marketing and creative services.

Sky's Director for People, Deborah Baker, says: “We’re giving bright and hardworking school leavers the opportunity to get their foot in the door of the media industry. This is the most varied apprenticeship programme we have offered to date and we know that young people will bring enthusiasm and fresh ideas to Sky.

“As a business, we know that investing in youth and creating opportunities at a junior level is essential to our future growth. We look forward to welcoming the successful candidates in the summer.

Sky also offers a twelve-month "Fast Forward" work placement programme, open to Year 13 students in fourteen schools in the London Borough of Hounslow. The programme offers experience in broadcast operations, entertainment, Sky News, Sky Creative and Sky Sports.

“It is important to Sky that local people benefit from our success as a business", says Baker. "We hope that the Fast Forward and apprenticeship schemes will give young people a route into an exciting and rewarding career, as well as helping to ensure we have a diverse workforce that is representative of the local community.”Thanks to positive feedback from last year's apprenticeship participants, Sky - on of the country's largest and well known technology, media and entertainment employers - is once more offering a total of 98 apprenticeship places across the UK.
