Kensington And Chelsea College Students Are The Source Of Inspirational Art
4 years ago

The Griffin Gallery in West London is hosting an exhibition showcasing the very best of a new generation of artists from Kensington and Chelsea College’s renowned Fine Art courses.

‘Source’ presents the work of 11 emerging London artists who studied on the Higher National Diploma in Fine Art, and offers guests a chance to view work demonstrating breadth and limitless creative possibilities, from the artist’s perspective.

The work is diverse and celebrates the uniqueness of each artist and the singularity of their work, whilst demonstrating how, from one particular source, a huge and engaging variety of work can emerge.

The exhibition is a springboard for the artists at a crucial point in their careers where many will be entering the art world to go on to further endeavours; whether continuing study at a higher level at respected London universities, or setting themselves up with a studio and continuing their professional practice independently.

Anjum Moon, the college’s Course Director HND Fine Art, said: “The level of professionalism that the students have demonstrated is astounding and they have all developed hugely in confidence as artists.”

Kensington and Chelsea College enjoys a high-profile reputation for excellence in the Creative Arts, and their successful student alumni includes recent Turner Prize nominee Spartacus Chetwynd. This year, students from the HND Fine Art course are progressing on to undergraduate and postgraduate level degree courses including at Goldsmiths College, Wimbledon School of Art and Camberwell School of Art.

‘Source’ has been curated by Bethany Marett, one of the exhibiting artists.

The exhibition is free to attend and opens on the 18th of July and runs until the 25th of July, at The Griffin Gallery, The Studio Building, 21 Evesham Street, W11 4AJ (nearest tube: Latimer Road). The private view will be from 6.30pm- 8.30pm on 17th July. The Griffin Gallery, The Studio Building is the new global headquarters of paint suppliers Winsor & Newton and Liquitex.
