Taylor, aged 19, is working towards her Level 2 Apprenticeship at Toast by the Coast, a Shoreham delicatessen and café owned by Paula Waugh. “He was very interested in my apprenticeship and asked me questions about my studies and work experience,” said Taylor.
Lester Biddle, regional operations manager for the South also attended. He commented, “It was a fantastic opportunity having Mr Loughton - who is a strong supporter of apprenticeships - visit Toast by the Coast and it enabled us to discuss the positive impact of apprenticeships on both our learners and local businesses.
“It’s important to ensure that we are helping as many young people as possible to pursue a range of opportunities to fulfil their potential and through our work with employers in the area we are able to provide support and create such opportunities for them.
“The number of apprenticeships under this Government has more than doubled which is a fantastic achievement, but it is equally important that the quality continues to improve and through our work with local employers we are striving to ensure this happens.”
