Celebrations For The Cream Of Nottinghamshire’s Hospitality Apprentices!

Johnny, the owner of JT Beedham’s butcher’s shop in Sherwood and a great supporter of apprenticeships, presented the learners’ certificates of achievement at a graduation ceremony held at the city’s Mercure Hotel and organised by their training provider HIT Training. All have recently completed a range of hospitality apprenticeships in Hospitality Supervision & Leadership, Customer Service, Food Production & Cooking, and Kitchen Services – yet there was cause for additional celebrations when HIT’s own administrator for Nottinghamshire, Magda Smolinska, also received a certificate to mark completion of her own studies, an Advanced Apprenticeship in Business & Administration!

It was a lovely happy event which reflected the success of all the apprentices – including our own Magda!” said HIT area manager Penny Taylor. “They have all worked really hard during their apprenticeships to achieve their qualifications, and are now equipped with valuable skills and training for the next stage of their chosen careers.

In addition to Johnny, who was named the Observer Food Monthly’s ‘Producer of the Year’ in 2011 and whose air-dried meat was used by local Michelin-starred chef Sat Bains on the BBC’s Great British Menu, guests included Kim Johnson, catering manager at Fernwood School, who attended the ceremony to celebrate the success of her three apprentices.

HIT Training is the UK’s leading provider of apprenticeships for the hospitality sector. Regionally based and locally focused, HIT offers hotel and catering apprenticeships at all levels and in all sectors; it has supported 40,000 learners at over 7,000 employer sites across the country. HIT Nottingham is currently working with over 60 employers in the region including Strada at Center Parcs, Rufford Golf Club, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Genting Casino, Nada Budaya, Langar Hall and Il Rosso in Mansfield.
