Choose Your Route To A Successful Career In Accountancy, Finance And Business
4 years ago

If you’re bright, ambitious and want to get your career started straight away, school leaver and higher apprenticeship programmes offer the perfect alternative to university.

We work with a range of organisations that offer non-graduate routes to becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. They recognise that bright and ambitious students want to jump straight into a career instead of going to university.

The great thing about school leaver programmes is that you’ll be in the workplace from day one. Your employer will give you a wide range of on-the-job experience, which will also counts towards your professional qualification; the ACA. They will give you time out to study and take your exams and the best news is that you’ll be earning a salary at the same time!

Depending on the programme and employer you choose, it can take as little as four or five years to fully qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. Entry requirements vary but we advise you have at least 3 GCSE’s grade A*-C (including a B or above in Maths and English) and a minimum of 280 UCAS points in A-levels or equivalent qualifications.

School leaver programmes offer you the opportunity to learn from day one, giving you the chance to start your journey by studying one of the following first:

• ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB).
• Higher Apprenticeship in Assurance/Audit or Tax.
• AAT Level Four Diploma (Association of Accounting Technicians).

Once you have completed this first stage of your training, you’ll be able to progress onto the ACA, building on the skills and experience you have already gained.

Becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant opens the door to a wide range of careers and opportunities. Our members work in some of the most recognisable brands in the world for example, Manchester United Football Club, the BBC and Coca-Cola. Because our chartered accountants are recognised for their knowledge, skills and experience around the world, you could end up working anywhere, from New York to Shanghai.
