The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London will be hosting an Apprenticeships Job Fair on Thursday 28 May 2015 from 3.30pm – 6.30pm at its Tottenham Centre. All are welcome to come to the Fair, which is likely to be busy as 65 apprenticeship jobs are currently on offer. Visitors will have the chance to meet a range of employers such as Haringey Council and North Middlesex Hospital - and interview for the apprenticeships that are available, all on the same day.

The College’s Apprenticeships team, which works with businesses to provide opportunities to step straight into work and earn while you learn, has put on the Fair so that local employers can fill the 65 jobs as quickly as possible. The Fair provides a fantastic opportunity for visitors to find out about the wide range of jobs available and to arrange advice and coaching from the Apprenticeships Team who are all recruitment specialists.

Head of Apprenticeships, Sambit Sen says: “I urge visitors to bring your CV on the day and my team will be able to give you one to one guidance on how to improve it to land the job of your dreams.”

Specialists will be available to give expert advice on the different apprenticeship areas, which include: accountancy, business administration, customer service, hairdressing, IT, marketing, warehousing and many more.

Apprentices are required to work thirty hours a week including one day’s attendance at the College to study for their qualifications. From 1 October 2015 the minimum rate of pay will be £3.30 per hour.

Councillor Joe Goldberg, Haringey’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Social Inclusion and Sustainability, said: “Taking on an apprentice can help someone to gain the hands-on experience and skills they need to build a long-term career. It’s also good for the borough’s small businesses, with nearly three quarters of apprentice’s successfully starting work at the same employer after their placement ends. London is the world’s greatest city, and it’s vital that together we do more to bring more jobs, training and work experience opportunities that support our residents in getting a foot on the jobs ladder.”
