Tell us a bit about yourself!
My name’s Karl, I in fact went to university for two years studying Sports and, in the middle of the year, I decided to drop out and go into an apprenticeship.
Why did you choose an apprenticeship?
For me personally, the idea of learning and earning was a key factor, as good as a degree in certain subjects is, an apprenticeship offers work experience, knowledge, and I get to earn money throughout.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
The best part about being on an apprenticeship is the people I work with here at WB. Everyone can put a smile on my face, they’re all friendly and that helps on the hardest of days.
What has been your highlight so far?
My highlight so far has been the team and my actual role at the company. I get along with everyone I work with, and in my position, I look forward to coming in everyday and assisting the team.
What obstacles have you encountered and overcome during your apprenticeship?
Like everyone, some days are harder than others. The workload on and offsite can become a lot which adds stress, but the impact it has on becoming more productive is strong.
What advice would you give to people looking to do an apprenticeship?
The best advice I can give to someone who is interested in becoming an apprentice is to choose a position which you're either passionate about or could spark a passion from within. This will help you stay focused and involved throughout the whole process.
