Overview:
As our Software Engineer Apprentice, you will aid with providing a support and maintenance service in particular relating to all software owned by the group. You will also undertake a learning programme to develop your skills and understanding in relation to software support, maintenance and development enhancing your knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Helpdesk Support: Respond to helpdesk traffic via all communication channels, maintaining high standards of customer service by considering impact, priority, and severity. Handle helpdesk incidents and service requests in accordance with service level agreements and customer standards.
- Troubleshooting: Confidently approach helpdesk cases using knowledge gained from triage to diagnosis and resolution, adhering to internal policies and procedures. Diagnose IT faults through troubleshooting techniques and tools.
- User Administration: Assist with user administration for all software, including managing starters, leavers, and transfers. Address audit findings to ensure accuracy and compliance across software systems.
- Customer Support: Establish professional working relationships to enhance the customer support journey, utilising communication and troubleshooting skills to guide customers through the support process, keeping them informed and setting clear expectations.
- Software Knowledge: Build technical and operational knowledge of all software to provide effective guidance and support to the business.
- Change Management: Review, plan, test, and implement minor software changes in line with change management procedures. Assist in testing IT functions of software upgrades, ensuring user acceptance testing standards are upheld.
- Security and Confidentiality: Uphold internal security and acceptable use policies, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Continuous Development: Invest in continuous personal development, staying updated with industry standards and technological advances relevant to the organisation.
Desirable skills:
- Have an overall ICT awareness of software and demonstrate a passion for the sector.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of basic aspects of ICT with some experience in an ICT setting/learning environment.
- The ability to prioritise and multitask with several diverse requests at any one time.
- The ability to communicate openly and with ease to all customers and stakeholders.
- Ability to perform well in a high-pressured environment.
- Self-motivated and innovative, with a passion for personal development.
- Demonstrate initiative and accountability in their daily operations.

- Naturally solution orientated.
- An understanding of social housing is desirable.
Entry requirements:
- The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
- OR an A-level in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject and a successful completion of our aptitude test
- OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
- OR 2 years’ experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
