Production Chef Apprentice - Butler's Tea Room

Butlers Tea Room in Cusworth are looking for an aspiring chef to join our friendly team. As an Apprentice chef, you are responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food which is delivered to our customers in the tearoom.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As an Apprentice Chef, you are responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food which is delivered to our customers in the tearoom. An Apprentice Chef will also be required to undertake all reasonable duties as assigned by the Head Chef and owners. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards

The successful applicant will be working in a busy restaurant/cafe environment and duties will include:

  • To show a willingness to learn and a desire to succeed within the industry
  • To maintain a clean and tidy station
  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to the highest standard
  • Comply with and have full knowledge of regulations regarding health and safety
  • Undertake any reasonable duties that may be assigned by the Head chef or Tea room owners
  • Complete all aspects of the training programme

Your training plan

  • Training will be at Doncaster College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer
  • Day release
  • You will undertake the Production Chef Level 2 standard (https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/production-chef-v1-0)
  • You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or maths if needed
  • You will undertake both on and off-the-job training by a team of industry-qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge, and experience.

GCSE in:

  • Maths and English (grade 4)

Other requirements

You must be able to travel to and from work and college. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
