Level 7 Masters Degree Apprenticeship Senior Leader (CMI)

This CMI masters qualification is ideal for Professional Strategic Leaders in the private, public or third sector, such as Senior Leader, Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Information Officer or Head of Department/Faculty.

Study Aims

This programme aims to develop knowledge and understanding, leadership from a strategic perspective considering the internal and external factors that influence strategic leadership and management within organisations. It provides an up-to-date knowledge of organisational theory and behaviour and allows students to review organisational strategy in line with innovation, financial planning and organisational change.

The content is mapped against the CMI Level 7 Diploma. On successful completion of all units and assessment criteria students are able to gain a Masters and CMI Level 7 Diploma.

Modules Studied

You will study areas such as:

  • Professional leadership development as a strategic manager
  • Implementing Organisational Change strategies
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Developing Performance Management strategies
  • Strategic Human Resource Planning
  • Strategic Financial Planning
  • Research Methods
  • Innovation, Enterprise and Risk
  • Dissertation.

Teaching and Assessment

You will be required to work towards standards set by the CMI and develop a portfolio of evidence in preparation for an End Point Assessment. A workplace assessor will help you build the knowledge and understanding to achieve this.

Each unit has an assessment which has been written and validated for the Open University and are designed to allow for achievement of the CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership in year one of the programme.

You will have tutorials with your course tutor, to help you with your assessments. You are required to do 20% off the job training and you will work with you own individual apprenticeship skills coordinator to plan this. Once all modules have been internally and externally moderated by CMI then you will receive your certificate.

End Point Assessment

On successful completion of the Masters you will then progress to complete the apprenticeship End Point Assessment which demonstrate your knowledge, skills and behaviours in you role. For more information on the requirements of the End Point Assessment, please contact the course team.

Entry Criteria

You will be working in a relevant management role which will enable you to demonstrate the Senior Leader Apprenticeship standards.

You will hold a degree in a relevant subject.

What are the next steps?

Once you have applied online you will be invited into the College to attend an interview with the Curriculum Manager or Programme Lead.
