IT Support Apprentice

Acting as an extension of many organisations’ IT departments, the team at Arcom IT resolves everyday issues professionally and responsively allowing our clients to focus on running their businesses.

Overview: 

You will be working as a member of the Tech Services department. This role provides an excellent opportunity to start your career in IT support. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and a desire to grow within a dynamic IT services team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote support to customers’ IT and telecom networks.
  • Handle support telephone calls and emails directly from customers.
  • Work towards a target of first-time fix for all issues.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the 3rd line team in a timely manner.
  • Use remote monitoring and management (RMM) systems to identify and address potential issues.
  • Record all work within the ticketing system and follow documented processes and procedures.
  • Provide remote end-user training where required.
  • Maintain internal controls and procedures, providing recommendations for improvements where applicable.

Desirable skills:

  • Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, SharePoint, Intune).
  • Desktop support / end-user computing troubleshooting.
  • Networking fundamentals.
  • Hosted VOIP systems (experience with Gamma Horizon or Avaya would be a big advantage).
  • Ideally some experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • A full UK driving licence and your own transport are essential, as occasional site visits will be required and you’ll need to comfortably commute to Aldershot.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:

35 hours per week, 9am - 5pm.
