IT First Line Support Apprentice

Employer description:

Globecast UK is a leading provider of satellite services to the broadcasting industry. They currently transmit over 300 television, radio onto BSKYB and other satellite platforms which includes services for the BBC, Viacom & UKTV. Globecast also provides occasional use services for news, sport and program contribution. Globecast is a global operation and has operations and teleport facilities in every continent.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for IT support via phone, email, or ticketing system.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Provide technical assistance for Windows, Microsoft 365, and common business applications.
  • Set up and configure new user accounts, desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior technicians or relevant departments when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support requests and resolutions.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, updates, and inventory of IT equipment.

Desirable skills:

  • Basic understanding of IT principles, including networking, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service skills.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:

5 days per week in office, 9am - 5:30pm.
