This programme will provide you with the advanced skills and knowledge required to work as a technician in the mechanical engineering industry.
You will develop an understanding of mechanical engineering which will enable you develop processes and products from small component designs to large plants, machinery or vehicles. You could work on all stages of a product; from research and development to design and manufacture, installation and final commissioning.
During this course you will study modules that focus on areas such as analytical methods for engineers, project design, mechanical principles, engineering science, plus other specialist topics that meet demands of local industry.

Teaching and Assessment
You will be assessed using a variety of different methods, including software simulation, lab reports, written reports and assignments.
Industry Links
A variety of enrichment activities will be organised for throughout the year, including guest speakers, visits to industry and live project briefs.
Placement
You will be encouraged to search for work placement opportunities if you are not currently in employment. We will support you in finding a suitable placement as they are a great way to get hands-on experience, and develop your skills in a real working environment.
Entry Criteria
You will hold the following qualifications:
Mature applicants (aged 21 years and older) with no formal qualifications, but with relevant industrial experience, are also welcome to apply.
Additional Costs
You will need to purchase basic stationery and a scientific calculator.
