Employee Relations Specialist - Part Time

We have an exciting new role in our ER Hub!

The role of the ER Specialist within the ER Hub is to provide expert advice and guidance on complex employee relations matters acting as an escalation point within the ER Hub and for the business when ER matters are raised at a senior level. Utilising expertise, the ER Specialist will also ensure the ongoing development of the HR community and wider business people management capability in association with the Performance and Development function.

This role will be offered on a part time basis of 28 hours per week and will be on a fixed term contract basis, for up to 12 months.

The start date for this role will likely be end of October. What you will be doing:

  • Providing consistent specialist HR advice and guidance to senior managers in line with Capita People Policy and Process
  • Supporting remotely, with the proactive management of ER cases - advising, influencing and coaching on how to proceed following best practice and ensuring compliance with employment law
  • Proactively manage case work using the case management tool, completing case records fully and in a timely manner
  • Ensure best practice requirements and commercial imperatives are balanced so that ER risk is minimised
  • Work collaboratively as member of the ER Hub function to deliver high quality service to customers: regular communication and information exchange
  • Act as the point of escalation from Advisory Team and senior leaders within the business
  • Ensure queries and requests from customers are responded to efficiently, accurately and in accordance with any agreed service standards.
  • Build relationships with the wider HR team and highlight significant trends in their business areas.
  • Participation in key HR ER related projects as appropriate.
  • Ensure all hard and soft copy personnel records are maintained & secure, complying with obligations under the Data Protection Act.

What we are looking for:

  • CIPD qualified, with strong demonstrable ER and previous line management experience
  • Represent the People function consistently and with professionalism
  • Leads by example by demonstrating the Capita Purpose, values, behaviours and Code of Conduct
  • Extensive employee relations experience including dealing with complex cases up to and including ET
  • Effective communication and influencing skills at a senior level - able to frame communication in a way that others will respond to, without having the authority to tell people what to do
  • Well organised, with ability to work to tight deadlines and excellent attention to detail
  • Resilience - maintains effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks or pressure. Remains calm, stable and in control of themselves
