- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or required
- Experience working in a dental or healthcare environment is beneficial
- Some understanding of dental reception, customer service, or CQC compliance is a plus

You will work towards achieving the Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard, which includes a blend of off-the-job training and practical workplace learning. The programme covers key areas such as leadership, communication, project management, and team development. Training is delivered through online sessions, portfolio building, and dedicated preparation for the End-Point Assessment.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you could progress into a permanent team leader or dental practice manager role. There may also be opportunities to pursue higher-level management or healthcare qualifications and take on greater responsibility within the practice.
As a Dental Practice Team Leader Apprentice, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day coordination of the dental team and the smooth operation of the practice. You'll be supported to develop key leadership skills such as communication, time management, and problem-solving, while contributing to patient satisfaction and operational effectiveness.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and line managing at least two dental team members, with potential for more
- Leading team briefings, one-to-ones, and training support
- Helping to manage appointment schedules, patient flow, and front-of-house operations
- Monitoring performance and ensuring service standards are met
- Liaising with dentists, hygienists, dental nurses, and reception staff
- Supporting stock control, rota planning, and compliance with CQC and NHS regulations
- Handling patient enquiries and resolving issues in a professional manner
- Ensuring practice policies, data protection, and health & safety procedures are followed
This apprenticeship combines structured learning with hands-on experience and leads to a nationally recognised Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor qualification.
You will be managing a minimum of two team members, possibly more, and working in a fast-paced clinical environment where professionalism and accuracy are essential. The role requires balancing on-the-job duties with dedicated time for study and training. You’ll need to be comfortable working closely with both patients and dental professionals.
