The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Level 6 Apprentice Civil Engineer to start in Summer/Autumn 2024 to join our team based in Leeds.

In your engineering apprenticeship, you will be instrumental in helping to improve the water environment.

This team studies how rainfall, rivers, and waterways affect the environment, and designs engineering and modelling solutions to help clients plan for water resource needs in the future, considering both population growth and climate change.

You will be exposed to various types of projects:

  • Natural flood risk management and alleviation schemes

  • River and waterways structures

  • River restoration

  • Planning on how to facilitate development on flood risk.

Your day-to-day role includes various engineering and design activities. Learning how to use relevant software and programs such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Micro drainage to visualise the process of what we produce, how it is planned and how flood risks are managed, all before anything gets built.

What will you gain?

You’ll be learning whilst you earn as you study for your degree in Civil Engineering. Expanding your knowledge by attending university on weekly day release at Leeds Beckett University.

About you:

For our apprenticeships no previous experience is required, if you are self-motivated, an excellent communicator and curious to learn more than this could be for you.

What you’ll need:

  • 3 A Levels totalling 96 UCAS points, one of which must be Maths or physical science.

or

  • BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering – DMM to include Further Engineering Mathematics.
