Your role will consist of helping and advising customers on leisure activities, bookings and all things customer related as well as ensuring the safety of customers using the pool. 

Reporting to the General Manager of the centre, you will need a “can do” approach and a willingness to learn and mature on the job.

Community Activator Coach Level 2.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Run safe and clean facilities, taking care of the resources which are needed to deliver the services on offer 
  • To act as a pool attendant 
  • Pitch in as needed to help your centre, your manager, your  colleagues  
  • Promote our values and expectations 
  • Plan your tasks, deliver great service standards 
  • Commit to your own development 
  • Take part in company training programmes 
  • Provide feedback so we can continuously improve 
  • Respect the privacy rights of customers and colleagues

  • To caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas/behaviours and react accordingly.

Eligibility criteria

When working as a lifeguard at the swimming pool, the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) will be needed. Training for this can be provided through Halo provided you are willing to commit to the course. Please see course pre requisites below.

Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16-years-old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits
