Business Analyst Apprentice

Overview:

You will be responsible for analysing business requirements, identifying opportunities for improvement through data analysis using Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and working with stakeholders to implement solutions that add value to the business. Responsibilities include gathering and documenting requirements, facilitating communication between stakeholders and development teams, refinement of work to feed into sprint planning, tracking key performance indicators and ensuring that the final product meets user expectations.

This role will be working in an Agile environment involving full SDLC covering UK time zone (covering up to 5pm UK time) and will be reporting into the Product Management and Process Improvement team.

Responsibilities:

  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the ART through data analysis, focusing on increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and delivering higher value to the business. Create process models, diagrams and flowcharts to represent current and future state processes.
  • Requirements gathering: Collaborating with stakeholders to analyse and document business requirements and user stories to ensure alignment with business objectives and strategic goals. Ensure we have captured the desired business outcome and the key performance indicators that we tell us what good looks like. Convert business needs and requirements into detailed user stories, ensuring they are well-defined, prioritized, and include acceptance criteria. Collaborate with Product Owners to maintain a well-groomed product backlog. Coordination and communication between business users, members from own team and enabling teams throughout the development process.
  • Data analysis: Analyse data using Lean Six Sigma methodologies to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions. Follow trends to ensure that the value stream makes continuous improvement and adds value to the business.
  • Support of Agile ways of working: Contributing to the continuous improvement of Agile processes and methodologies within the team or organization. Actively participate in PI Planning sessions, helping to define features, clarify requirements and ensure that user stories are properly estimated and aligned with the program’s objectives.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience in business analysis, process improvement, or a related role.
  • Proven record in using process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Proficient in process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Certification such as CBAP, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalents.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Entry requirements:

  • Level 3 Qualification + at least 12 months of work experience* + robust onboarding plan (learner must work in the organisation for 3 months before signing up)
  • OR business-related degree eg business, finance, economics, maths, etc.
  • OR non-business-related degree + at least 6 months of work experience*
  • OR existing staff member with 2+ years of work experience**


*Work experience relates to any valid work experience

**Existing staff work experience should not be in a business analyst role

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:

37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, shifts between 8am - 5:30pm (e.g. 8am - 4pm or 9:30am - 5:30pm). This is a hybrid role.
