Apprenticeship Scheme 2025 - Service Desk Analyst (Level 3)

To join the NNL apprenticeship scheme you’ll already have a good academic background and should have attained, or be on track to achieving 5 GCSE's 9-4 (A-C) including Maths and English. 

You will be 16 or over by September 2025.  

To be eligible for this apprenticeship you must:

  • Not be enrolled on another funded apprenticeship or another funded further education or higher education programme at the time you start your new apprenticeship.
  • Only apply if the Information Communications Technician, Level 3 standard, is unrelated to any qualifications you already hold at the same or higher level. The apprenticeship you are applying for must be unrelated in subject and content from the qualification you already hold. 

You will have the right to work in the UK, have lived in the UK for at least 5 years and be able to achieve SC level security clearance.

Main Responsibilities

As a service desk analyst apprentice you will be a key member of the IT team. You will be the central point of contact between IT and their users on a daily basis. Users log incidents and requests via phone call, our online service portal or email. You will provide first and second line technical support to NNL employees, working with applications and systems to undertake analysis, diagnosis and resolution of users incidents and requests. 

Your duties will include: 

  • Act as a single point of contact for phone calls, emails & portal notifications from staff regarding IT incidents and requests
  • Receive, log and manage calls from internal staff via telephone, email and Instant Message
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support and troubleshoot IT related problems from in-house software to hardware, such as Smartphones, Laptops, PCs and Printers 
  • Troubleshoot basic network issues
  • Escalate unresolved calls to the appropriate support team
  • Take ownership of user problems and follow up the status of problems on behalf of the user and communicate progress in a timely manner
  • Manage tickets and ensure all incidents are resolved in accordance with their Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles
  • Maintain a knowledge base of known faults, errors and resolutions

This role involves demonstrating an aptitude for all things IT and problem solving. 

On this apprenticeship you will be following the Information Communications Technician, Level 3 standard. 

To welcome you into the business, your programme will start with a tailored induction. This will give you an understanding of the business, the programme you will follow and what we’ll expect from you during your apprenticeship. Following your induction, you’ll be supported through your apprenticeship journey focusing on personal development. This covers a range of skills from time management to team working. We’ll learn about you together.

We even have a dedicated apprentice advisor who is there to ensure that you are settling into your apprenticeship at NNL, both in the workplace and at college.

As part of the selection process for the apprenticeship programme you should expect to complete a short online assessment. Successful candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre which will assess technical and behavioural competencies. The assessment centre for this role will be held in April 2025. 

If successful you will receive a conditional offer of employment, you will also be required to achieve the appropriate security and medical clearances. 

You will start your apprenticeship scheme in September 2025.
