Apprentice Assistant Accountant

Job Introduction

The Finance Apprentice role at Tarmac offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within various transactional finance teams.

Through rotational assignments across different areas of finance, our apprentices will develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's financial processes.

The scope of this role includes completing the AAT Level 4 qualification, ensuring competence as an Assistant Accountant, and establishing a solid foundation for career progression within the finance function after completing the apprenticeship.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Financial Support: Assist in understanding the core finance function by supporting financial activities and processes.

Data Recording and Analysis: Help in recording, analysing, and reporting financial data using company tools and processes.

Collaborative Work: Work with cross-functional teams within the finance department and the wider business.

Systems and Software Usage: Utilize various financial systems and software to analyse data, process transactions, and perform reconciliations.

Financial Best Practices: Apply best practices for financial accounting, reporting, and management accounting, supporting key financial processes.

Stakeholder Support: Aid in preparing financial information for key stakeholders.

Innovation and Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within financial business units.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Education Requirements:

  • GCSEs in English Language and Maths (or equivalent) at Grade 4 or above.
  • Minimum of 2 A levels / A2 grades (A* - C) or equivalent in any subject (predicted or obtained).
