Tory, Working On A 27m Superyacht In Italy
9 years ago

Working on a superyacht and helping guests enjoy the watersports toys and jet skis is a dream come true for UKSA professional yacht cadet Tory Armstrong.

When we caught up with her recently, she was out in the industry working as sole deckhand on a 27m superyacht in Italy. She’s responsible for running the watersports toys and has to ensure the guests have fun during their stay.

She’s is qualified to train the guests on the jet skis, and she’s responsible for all the docking – talking the captain into the berth over the radio and doing the engine checks.

She said: “I am loving my job and the new things that I am learning. I have really found what I was looking for.”

As a youth charity, UKSA often has bursary funding available for the right candidates on the Professional Yacht Cadetshipthanks to support from the superyacht industry and maritime charities.

Tory, 23, had her training funded by esteemed maritime charity Trinity House. She was granted funding worth approximately £13,000, which covered her first phase and her foundation degree.
