Read Dennis' Story About His Apprenticeship Journey So Far At Astrazeneca
1 year ago

About Me:

Hi, I am Dennis, a final year Human Resources Talent Acquisition apprentice at AstraZeneca. I support the Talent Acquisition function through various rotations, and I have just completed my Early Talent rotation.

Apprenticeship:

I chose to do an apprenticeship because the principle of learning something and applying what I have learnt immediately is how I know best. I enjoy real-life challenges as opposed to scenarios, and my apprenticeship provides that. Networking is vital, and with an apprenticeship, I get to have mentors and other business leaders that I can rely on to give me career advice and advice on opportunities I should be taking part in.

Why AstraZeneca:

AstraZeneca appealed to me because of the values it stands for as an organisation. Working for a company with a Global presence has always been a dream of mine. Still, most importantly, a company that actively works to deliver Life Changing Medicines globally puts the icing on the cake.

Enjoy Most

Variety provided by the different teams; I work with is just one of the aspects of the AstraZeneca apprenticeship I enjoy. I am exposed to real-life situations, and the work I do as an apprentice is always valued. Every day new challenges appear that we always tackle collectively. AstraZeneca values are not just wording. They are values I see come to life every day, making AstraZeneca a Great Place To Work for me.

Highlight so far

Recently I worked on a campaign to recruit an Oncology Apprentice. I was given ownership of the campaign from the very beginning. The ideas I had were implemented, and I was guided and advised all the way but still left to make decisions I thought would benefit our Hiring Managers and Candidates. I loved every second of this campaign because of collaboration, communication, comprehension, and a successful campaign. Almost like putting a 1000-piece puzzle together, but all to find an apprentice that could one day change how we perceive and treat cancer.

Advice to Apprentices.

Find your passion and look for opportunities in apprenticeships. Personal growth and professional advancement are far superior to anything else out there. I work with industry experts every day. The knowledge and advice I get are priceless. All this while whilst earning and achieving qualifications for life. As you enter into the professional world, LinkedIn is critical; set up an account and research the Early Talent programmes in AstraZeneca and other companies out there.
