Nicole Harris, Health And Social Care Apprenticeship
10 years ago

Nicole joined Woodspeen Training in November 2011 on the Health and Social Care apprenticeship, she was unemployed and had never worked in the care sector before. Nicole went for an interview at the Manor House and started on a 4 week placement to see if adult elderly care was really for her. She enjoyed this and was successful in gaining employment at the end of 4 weeks.

When Nicole joined Woodspeen she was very quiet and didn’t really join in group activities preferring to work quietly on her own. Over the next few weeks Nicole grew in confidence, joining in more during the sessions. Nicole also gained excellent feedback from her employer about her progression and what a good carer she was. Over the next few months Nicole’s confidence increased further, even supporting new members of the team in centre with their work, and supporting a new apprentice in the care home. Nicole was also asked by Woodspeen Training to be on the interview panel for a new assessor.

Nicole completed her Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care in July 2012 and has returned to do her level 3 qualification, this in itself speaks of her determination to progress with her career as the level 3 qualification is a senior qualification and is completed by very few 18 year olds.
